Crazy Week

This is Starlee’s baby Harper! I cant even believe how adorable this little baby is!

Monday we went on a bike ride and it was my first day out with clips and it went great.  I was super nervous but I did it. We only had enough time to do 10 miles and then we needed to go help grandma and grandpa J with packing to get ready to move!
We took separate cars and we helped for quite a while and then I had to go get James to the dentist and on the way home from that James and I ran out of gas in dads car.  We walked to some peoples house that we knew lived by there.  They helped us and we got home.

Tuesday dad and I drove down to Lehi and we ran out of gas in the suburban and coasted into a gas station and got gas and then we parked and rode our bikes out 5 miles when I was trying to start again on a hill I just fell right over and hurt my wrist really bad! It swelled up and has hurt so much the whole week.  Dad had to ride back and get the car to pick me up because my wrist hurt too much to ride! That pic is taken while I was waiting! Lots of nice people stopped to see if I was ok. We went and got it x-rayed at the dr that I go to that has been working on my shoulder pain and knee pain. He said it wasn’t broken so we bought a wrist brace.   Then we spent the rest of the entire day helping grandpa and grandma moving until 8 pm.  I could only help with one hand.  Things were kind of crazy there. They still have way too much stuff.  They are trying to get rid of more!! But we had to load 4 -25 foot trucks of stuff.  The movers were delayed and then the new owners came earlier then we expected so we were just throwing everything into the back of our trailer and just cleaning ASAP! We got everything out as quick as we could.

Wednesday I took it easy and shanna came over and made lunch for me.
I had a lot to do so I still did too much that day! Dan Myers came and mowed and edged the entire lawn front and back for us.

Thursday I tried to get caught up on chores and went to my knee appointment and then I went and helped grandma and grandpa unpack some things.

Friday shanna and Charlotte came over again and made me lunch and we hung out for a while then dan Myers and i went to the dump to empty all of the garbage from grandma and grandpas house from their moving. Dan has been a great help this week. He also helped me take the trailer load to DI from grandma and grandpas.

Saturday I was in charge of stake baptisms. We had 2 new kids get baptized and a cousin of one of the kids. Next I went and helped Christian and Shanna and Charlotte move. Once again with only one hand because my left wrist hurts so bad I cant even do anything with it without pain.  It is getting a little better each day. Shanna and Christian and Charlotte have a cute little apartment that will be so nice for them! We had them all moved in and unpacked in a few hours! I will probably be helping grandma and grandpa for 6 months or more!

Today we did primary program practice in the chapel the whole 2 hours of primary!

Shanna and Christian and Charlotte  came over for dinner!

Tonight sister Ann Dibb came and spoke for youth standards night. We got James to go. She is president monsons daughter. It was fun to hear her talk about just real life experiences with her parents!

Labor Day Campout

Last Saturday we went to the funeral of dads friend Darren Hirsche. It was so weird to think about him being dead.  Dad did a great job of telling about Darren’s life.  After the funeral and graveside and talking to a lot of friends from high school and Darren’s family, we had lunch at the church and then we changed and drove to the campground.

James rode up with the Lynn’s on Friday evening to the campground.  We went to Payson canyon again this year.  We got out there at about 4 pm.  It was such beautiful weather and we got our camp all set up. James had such a blast just running around with the other kids and enjoying the outdoors. They had a bunch of hammocks set up and just swung each other around in those most of the time we were there.  As usual we all took turns cooking for the group and then we were in charge of a few of our meals on our own! The Lynn’s and I made tacos/ taco salad! It turned out really well! We made s’mores bars in a pan and cut up watermelon as well!

We had breakfast altogether Sunday morning and then we had mountain church.  We gave missionary reports and Kristin shared a spiritual message from the nEw era.

Shanna, Christian and Charlotte came on Sunday afternoon.  Everybody went on a hike right when It was time for them to arrive and so I stayed back from the hike and watched for them. I was bummed that I didnt get to go on the hike. I was glad I waited for them though so they would know where we were.  I did walk around the campground where I could see them come in!

Tuesday Dad and I went on a long bike ride from 11400 south on Jordan river trail all the way to thanksgiving point.  It was 26 miles total and it was a lot of really steep hills and valleys to get across that huge canyon.  The next day Dad picked up my clip shoes and pedals and hooked them on my bike.  I have been practicing clipping in and out of my pedals all week.  I am pretty scared to go with the clip pedals.  I will have to try to do it this week.  Next week is our scheduled 2 day bike trek.

Jacob had to go to the dermatologist to get the finger fixed so that it would heal properly.  It is doing a lot better.  He doesn't know I took this pic so you don't need to mention this pic to anyone.

Shanna and Charlotte and I went to Costco and then they came over and we sorted through Shannas storage area.  Charlotte was on a blanket with some toys and then little by little she scooted on her bum over to the door and she kind of just got stuck strattling the doorway.  It was pretty cute.

Thursday I helped Grandma and Grandpa pack.  Saturday Dad had the day off so we got a friend for james and shanna, Christian and Charlotte came and we drove up to Starvation Reservoir for boating.  We had a little rain storm but other than that the weather was really nice.  We had some good water periodically.  It was a great day.

Day Date Bike rides

We went camping to Payson for the annual Labor Day campout.  Dads friend Darren Hirsche passed away this past week of Huntington’s disease.  The disease is hereditary and affects the brain cells.  We went to the funeral saturday morning and then straight out to camping.  James rode up with the Lynn’s friday night.  We were planning on going to the viewing for Darren Friday night but right before dad got home, I realized that I needed to take Jacob to the urgent care because we couldnt get the bleeding to stop for 3 hours on a weird thing on his finger.  It looks like a blood blister but it isn’t.  It just would not stop bleeding.  They had to caulderize it to get the bleeding to stop. It is a temporary fix. We will have to go to the dermatologist to get a more permanent fix for it.   Dad went to the viewing by himself.

Last Sunday Christian, Shanna & Charlotte came over! Charlotte was being so silly and of course we were being silly to see her laugh.

Dad and I rode 30 miles on Monday and The picture is of us riding back to our car on the trax.  It was a little cooler this week. It was really nice though.  We rode our bikes on jordan river trail from Gardner village to legacy parkway trail.  We saw a lot of homeless people and graffiti and bad smells and a little sketchy part of town.  I would not go alone.

Tuesday we rode 22 miles and went all the way to the north end of Mountain View corridor trail which ends at 4100 south now.  It is very hilly. There is one really long hill at the end that is 2 miles Long I think and Dad says it is 1000 ft change in elevation. It was hard but I did it and that was my first time to do that hill.

Charlotte and Shanna went with me and we went to downtown SLC on Gallivan Avenue to this fun little Hipster Vegan restaraunt for lunch. The restaraunt is called Pulp Life Style Kitchen.  They have smoothies and açaí bowls and other salad and hot bowls. They have all really good ingredients.  It was pretty busy and really crowded and we had Charlotte in a stroller but we managed. It was yummy. On our way out of downtown we bought pastries from a vegan French bakery called Passion Flour Pattiserie! Croissants, macaroons and a scone.  They were yummy.

I got this picture this week of the HHS soccer team with Jacob in it from last spring.

Shanna might send you this picture but I wanted to as well just in case she doesn’t. Charlottes expression is so hilarious. Shanna had a little play date with other moms and babies in her ward. Cute!

I bought some toys from Francine Wright’s toy liquidation sale. Charlotte loves them.

Elder Orson F. Whitney (1855–1931) of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles taught that everything we experience teaches us valuable lessons: “No pain that we suffer, no trial that we experience is wasted. It ministers to our education, to the development of such qualities as patience, faith, fortitude and humility. All that we suffer and all that we endure, especially when we endure it patiently, builds up our characters, purifies our hearts, expands our souls, and makes us more tender and charitable, more worthy to be called the children of God … and it is through sorrow and suffering, toil and tribulation, that we gain the education that we come here to acquire and which will make us more like our Father and Mother in heaven” (cited in Spencer W. Kimball, Faith Precedes the Miracle [1972], 98).
